Covid-19: Vaccine passport in Brazil’s Espirito Santo state will require 3rd and 4th doses

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The measure has been in effect since January 31 for access to commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants, and gyms. The vaccination must be up to date, writes A Gazeta.

Although reports from Israel, where the fourth dose is already being injected, indicate that neither the third nor the fourth dose protects against Omicron or its subvariants, Espirito Santo continues to reinforce the already existing health apartheid in which the unvaccinated or partially vaccinated are systematically discriminated against.

Article 2-B For the purposes of the vaccine passport, will be allowed access to and stay in the establishments and activities listed in this Ordinance to those who present updated vaccination schedule and no delays, according to the period of suitability for receiving the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th doses.

Establishments such as gyms are also included in the measure. The exception is stores, where people enter and wear masks all the time.

Currently, the fourth dose is only recommended for immunosuppressed people. Still, in view of the increase in cases of Covid in 2022, Brazil has started studies to verify the application of this dose for more groups.

The vaccination passport can be presented through the Vacina e Confia platform (available at vacinaeconfia.es.gov.br), or even through the Ministry of Health’s ConecteSUS app, or the physical vaccination card issued by a health service can be presented, as long as it allows authenticity verification through a digital platform.
