Chile’s bottled wine exports reached 3.4 million cases for US$100.6 million in January 2023, the Wines of Chile organization reported yesterday, Thursday.

The entity specified that these figures meant drops of 16.4 percent in volume and 14.7 percent in value with respect to the same month of 2022.

“Economic difficulties and high stocks, among other factors, still seem to be affecting several of our main markets,” Wines of Chile said in a statement.

In January 2023, the average price was US$29.3 per case, which represented an increase of 2.1 percent compared to the same month in 2022.

Wines of Chile pointed out that although the only price segment that showed increases in volume and value was that of lower-value wines, “the growth in value of wines over 60 dollars per case stands out, which increased their shipments by 13.8 percent compared to January of the previous year”.

According to the report, the volume of shipments decreased by 2.6 percent, “which reflects an increase of about 17 percent in their average price”.

Exports reached 52.6 million cases in 12 months, “with a return of 1,538 million dollars”.

China remained in first place in value in the southern nation’s bottled wine exports, followed by Brazil, with a positive performance in the Irish, Japanese, and Mexican markets.
