By · February 27, 2023 · 1 min read

The expenses of Brazilians abroad were US$1.246 billion in January this year, informed this Friday (24.) the BC (Central Bank).

The result is 80.5% higher than the one registered in the same period of 2022 when Brazilians spent US$690 million.

Foreigners’ income in Brazil totaled US$604 million in the first month of 2023, an increase of 43.3% compared to January of the previous year.

According to the BC, both spending by Brazilians abroad and revenues by foreigners in Brazil are on a “trajectory of return to pre-pandemic” levels.

With the increase in spending abroad, the negative balance of the international travel account rose from US$269 million in January 2022 to US$642 million last month.
