Brazil: The revelations of Bismark Fugazza, from “Hypocrites Channel”

The Brazilian comedian Bismark Fugazza, from “Canal Hipócritas,” revealed details of his departure from Brazil during an interview with the “Oeste Sem Filtro” program, held on Tuesday 27th.

In the conversation, which included the participation of political commentator Fabiana Barroso and journalists Augusto Nunes, Ana Paula Henkel, Guilherme Fiuza and Cristiane Toledo, the comedian said he intends to fight for freedom of expression – even if it costs him his life.

As reported by Oeste, Fugazza and Paulo Souza left the country to avoid being arrested by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

“Ten days ago, we received information from a very hot source that our names would be on the list of an arrest warrant”, revealed Souza, adding that the name of journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio would also be in the magistrate’s sights. “That is why we made the decision to leave Brazil.”

According to Fugazza, Moraes is acting unconstitutionally. “He gives the warrant to the police, and they arrest you,” he said. “Only afterward the police enter into the system that the person was arrested. Therefore, we do not know if this arrest warrant really exists. But, as it was a source we trust very much who gave us this information, we decided to leave the country. We understand that our silent voices would be of no use.”

This week, Moraes determined the arrest of Eustáquio and Fugazza. The information, however, only surfaced this Monday, the 26th, with a report by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. There is still no confirmation of the reasons that led the magistrate to make such a decision.

Last week, Fugazza, Souza and Eustáquio denounced Justice Moraes to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. They accuse the magistrate of violating “the rights of freedom of expression” in the country, with “several temporary arrests illegally decreed.” In the action, the three also denounce the application of “disproportionate fines” to Brazilians by Justice Moraes, without due process of law.
