The CLP survey covers 415 cities with more than 80,000 inhabitants, where 127.9 million people live, or 59.96% of the Brazilian population.

Cities in the South and Southeast occupy all the top 20 positions in the Municipalities Competitiveness Ranking. But there are positive highlights spread throughout all regions.

Sobral, in the interior of Ceará, is a leader in quality education. Breves, in the state of Pará, Coari, in the state of Amazonas, and Sobral itself occupy the podium in the environment. And Sinop, in northern Mato Grosso, is among the top three in education.

The three cities that gained the most positions in the ranking between 2021 and 2022 are in São Paulo.

São Sebastião, on the northern coast, went from 175th to 60th place. Rio Claro, in the center-north, went up 103 places, reaching 117th place.

And Cruzeiro, in Vale do Paraíba, went from 295th to 204th. They advanced in the three dimensions of the ranking: economy, institutions, and society.
