Brazil: Pfizer confirms delivery of children vaccines to begin January 10

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Pfizer on Wednesday, January 5, confirmed that vaccine doses against Covid-19 for children aged 5 to 11 will begin to be delivered in the week of January 10.

In a statement, the pharmaceutical company says that 20 million doses will be delivered in the first quarter this year.

According to Pfizer, the vaccine has proven 90.7% efficacy in a clinical trial designed specifically for the pediatric age group, aged 5 to 11.

Phase 2 and 3 trials were conducted in 2,268 children in the United States, Finland, Poland and Spain, and showed robust antibody production responses and a favorable safety profile.

The vaccine for children in this age group was approved by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) on December 16, 2021.

This vaccine will be supplied with an orange label and cap, unlike the adult dose, which is purple in color.
