Plastic Straws are Banned in the State of São Paulo

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Plastic straws are banned in hotels, restaurants, bars, bakeries, night clubs, dance halls and musical events of any kind, among other commercial establishments in the state of São Paulo.

The resolution was published this Saturday, July 13th, in the Official State Gazette.

Plastic straws are to be replaced by recyclable paper straws, edible or biodegradable material, individually packaged in "hermetically sealed envelopes made of the same material."
