Christophobia: public school teacher curses Jesus Christ to “provoke discussion”

In serious offense to faith and religion, but claiming to “provoke discussion”, a high school teacher of a state school decided to write on the blackboard of the classroom the words: “Jesus is a bum and an idiot”.

The case occurred at Telina Barbosa da Costa school in Fortaleza, capital of Ceará state (CE), and was denounced by MP Dr. Silvana (PL) last week.

According to the students, the teacher, whose name was not disclosed, claimed he wanted to “provoke discussions pertinent to the content”.

The school students forwarded the complaint to the parliamentarian, who made the complaint in the Legislative Assembly of Ceará.

“I have never seen such disgusting and terrible content,” said the parliamentarian.

“This teacher is a wretch, a disqualified person, who cannot affront the faith of an entire class. There is no logical justification for a teacher to write something like this,” said the congresswoman.

According to the parliamentarian, the teacher will be charged with religious insult.

The complaint of insult, intolerance and religious discrimination was sent to the Public Ministry of Ceará, which will analyze the teacher’s offenses through the Education Prosecutors Office of Fortaleza, allied with the Education Operational Support Center.

The State Education Secretariat of Ceará said that the Superintendence of State Schools of Fortaleza, responsible for the regional schools, is investigating what happened.

“In the state public school system, the school environment is a space for respecting human rights, building citizenship, and promoting a culture of peace,” noted Seduc, which stressed that “the institution repudiates acts of intolerance and religious discrimination“.

The Secretariat said that complaints of this type should be forwarded to the State Ombudsman’s Office through Central 155.
