Argentine Justice orders the Army to hand over land to Mapuche community near Bariloche

The Justice rejected the appeals filed by the Argentine Army to avoid ceding public lands to the Mapuche community Millalonco Ranquehue, so a sentence remained in force that obliges it to deliver within 60 days a land located in the outskirts of the city of Bariloche, in the Patagonian province of Río Negro.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The case was initiated in December 2020, when the Mapuche community Millalonco Ranquehue filed an injunction against the national government to implement the "definitive and unconditional recognition" of the community property, register it in the public records, and issue the title deed.

Last February, a decision of the Federal Court of San Carlos de Bariloche, in charge of María Silvina Domínguez, upheld the claim and ordered the Executive Power to "immediately" award . . .
