Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced today, Monday, that his country, the world's inflation champion, supports the initiative put forward by Brazil and Argentina, the world's inflation runner-up, to create a common currency.

"I announce that Venezuela is ready, and we support the initiative to create a Latin American and Caribbean currency. Independence, union, and liberation of Latin America and the Caribbean", he said during a public act.

The Venezuelan President's statements were made during a rally at the Miraflores Palace (Government House) against the blockade imposed by the United States and its allies.
