Brazilian Spring: MPs recommend the use of the National Force to unblock roads in Brazil’s Mato Grosso state
Mato Grosso is the third state in the country with the highest number of the ‘Brazilian Spring’ election protest roadblocks.
The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) and the Mato Grosso state prosecutors recommended that the governor, Otaviano Pivetta (MDB), request the reinforcement of the National Public Security Force to support the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in the unblocking of federal highways in the state.
In the document, the MPs also recommend that the Military Police offer reinforcement to the PRF to carry out the “anticipated occupation of the blockades and interdictions,” which would create a belt to maintain traffic in places of greatest tension.
