Brazilian public debt grows 6% in 2022

Brazilian public debt ended 2022 at R$5.951 trillion (US$1.17 trillion), 6.02 percent more than in 2021, the National Treasury Secretariat reported yesterday.

Brazilian federal public debt increased by 1.37 percent in December compared to November, when it was R$5.871 trillion (US$1.15 trillion).

Despite this, the debt ended last year below the limits established by the Annual Financing Plan (PAF), which found that public debt could end up between 6 and 6.4 trillion reais (between US$1.18 and 1.26 trillion).
