Airline tickets rose 27.4% in October for inflation. It was the highest monthly variation of the year for the ticket.
The increase was registered by the National Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA, Brazilian CPI) in the group of prices on air travel.
In the accumulated from January to October, the increase is 35%.
The item also impacted individually the most on the IPCA of the month, collaborating with the high of 0.16 percentage points.

Contacted by Poder360, Abear (Brazilian Airline Association) said it does not comment on ticket inflation results.
However, it said that jet fuel accounts for about 40% of the costs of airlines. And that the companies have a portion of more than 50% indexed by the dollar.
From January to November, the fuel accumulates an increase of almost 59%, according to data from Petrobras.
Economist Nilza Aparecida dos Santos lists another factor for the increase: the increase in demand for airline tickets after the worst phase of the covid-19 pandemic.
Tatiana Nogueira, an economist at XP Investimentos, says the sector is still recovering from the losses caused by cancellations and flight changes because of the pandemic, especially in 2020 and 2021.
“It is a sector that is reorganizing itself […]. For 2023, we expect a little more normalization,” she says.
Dos Santos says prices should continue under pressure in the coming months due to the high travel season, recorded from December to February when there are holidays and school vacations.
“As the increase in demand influences the price of airline tickets, the high season should contribute to the cycle of rising prices,” says the economist.
