Bolivia: Evo Morales calls for the organization of “armed militias” in the Tropic of Cochabamba region
Former Bolivian president and leader of the ruling Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) Evo Morales has denounced the presence of “foreigners” in the Tropic of Cochabamba region and warned that they could organize armed self-defense groups like the Peruvian “ronderos”.
In particular, Morales has denounced on Twitter that “the Ministry of Government repeats the espionage method” of the US Drug Enforcement Agency, the DEA, “and infiltrates the Tropic of Cochabamba.”

“The sons of coca growers are expelled from the Police and Armed Forces. Some are posing as drivers, others as laborers,” he said.
Morales recalled that they requested “a year ago” the intervention of the Migration authorities to control the presence of foreigners.
“They have not responded so far.”
“If there is no presence of the Government Minister, we will organize ourselves into ‘ronderos’ like our peasant brothers in Peru,” he concluded.
The ronderos are armed rural organizations in Peru formed by members of indigenous and peasant groups.
