Bolivia achieves a trade surplus of US$698 million in the first four months of the year

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – As of April 2022, Bolivia exported US$4.3 billion, achieving a trade surplus of US$698 million, President Luis Arce informed this Tuesday.

The Head of State, through his official Twitter account, remarked that it is “the highest figure (registered) since 2014”.

He also considered that this situation shows that the country’s exports “continue to rise, even when imports are also rising due to the purchase of COVID-19 drugs”.

Last year, when a trade surplus was also recorded, Arce stated that these positive figures are being achieved thanks to the unity of the Bolivian people, who are “consolidating economic reconstruction.”

The trade surplus is the positive difference between what a country sells abroad (exports) and what it buys from other countries (imports).
