RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Celebrating urban art, skating, and music, the Arte Core festival returns to Rio de Janeiro’s Museu de Arte Moderna (Museum of Modern Art), for its second edition this weekend on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday 19th.

Filling the central span and outer area of Museu de Arte Moderna, better known as MAM, the free public event will begin at 10AM on Saturday morning and run until 8PM. On Sunday it will once again start at 10AM and last util 8PM.

Similar to the premier edition of the festival, but promising to be more interactive, this edition will feature live art expositions and works by some of the biggest names in Brazilian and International street art on display during both days of the festival with DJs spinning live and skateboarding with a ramp, live skate demos, and contests.

Curated by Rio’s Homegrown Gallery, the art of the festival will include major panels by street artists; Titi Freak, Santa Crew and SWK. Smaller panels will be presented by street artists; Combone, Marina Zumi, Flip Yung, Fefe Talavara, Izolag, Bragga, Derlon Almeida and Japanese street artist Atsuo Nakagawa, while São Paulo artist Flavio Samelo will present his modular panel.

There will be additional works on display by bromide and IPEK and installations by artists Marcelo Ment, João Lelo, Bruno Big, Marcelo Jou and Meton.

Returning for the second year, the Sneakrs BR exhibit again will illustrate the history of sneakers and their importance in street culture.

The Espaço Rabisco (Scribble Space) is also back for this edition, with graffiti workshops at 10:30AM and 12:30PM on both Saturday and Sunday, with limited vacancies for each workshops.

Special to this edition, Fleshbeck Crew members Toz, BR and Pia, will present a custom painted 1001 Bus. The Fleshbeck Crew are considered pioneers of Rio’s modern Graffiti scene.

Another part of the festival will feature photos that reveal the connections between the worlds of street art and skateboarding. Curated by Ronald Land, the display will feature image taken by Land himself and additional photographers Rene Jr, Dalmo, Ademar Luquinhas and Alex Carvalho.

Providing the music during the festival, DJs curated by Só Pedrada Musical will begin spinning each day at noon. On Saturday, Bangarang Sound System will start things off, spinning approximately two hour until to 2PM. Ambassodors, DJ Abud, DJ Machintal, DJ Tamenpi, DJ PG, and Elo da Corrente will follow, with an approximately one-hour long set each.

Following the close of the first day of the festival, at MAM, there will be an official Arte Core after party at Clube Santa Luzia. DJs Gustavo MM, Pedro Piu, Tamenpi, SSP, Tucho and Rodrigo S. will spin celebrating all things urban.

Back at MAM on Sunday at noon, Digital Dubs will kick things off with a two-hour set. CESRV, DJ Tamenpi, Marginal Men, the DJing duo of the well known Wobble parties, DJ Babz, DJ Soares and DJ Jeff Bass will follow, again with approximately one-hour long sets each.

The festival then will close with a special live performance by Kamau beginning at 7:15 PM.
