A recent report reveals that ticket sales between January and April 2023 reached 969 million bolivianos (US$139 million), compared to 411 million bolivianos (US$59 million) during the same period in 2021.

José García, the executive director of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), expressed that air passenger transport in 2022 saw the highest growth in the past four years, with indications that this year’s upward trend will continue.

García acknowledged the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation industry, resulting in travel restrictions and reduced demand for flights.

However, he highlighted that the latest figures from the International Association of Travel Agents (IATA) indicate a remarkable rebound, with air travel passenger numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels.

In 2022, approximately 5.7 million passengers were transported, with 4.5 million being domestic passengers.
