From 2:00 PM, the public can dive into the immersive space of the new Visitors Center to learn some curiosities about the sky. With the images projected in a virtual environment, the public has the possibility to know a little about the history of astronomy, with visual and sound effects in the environment that simulates a journey through the universe.

There are also exhibitions full of technology and art that show historical landmarks in the scientific area, such as the exhibition “The Eclipse” – Einstein, Sobral, and the GPS curated by award-winning Marcello Dantas. This allows visitors to experience amazing sensory experiences with the audiovisual simulation of the moment when the moon began to overlap the sun in the ephemeris that confirmed the theory of general relativity of Albert Einstein.

Starting at 3 PM, the public will be able to enjoy the thematic activity that has the theme “Is Life out there”? This will stimulate participants to reflect on the immensity of the sky: “Is it really that we are alone in the universe”?

To immerse themselves in this reflection, the visitors will walk through the Mast campus and get to know the earth’s ecological relationships, tour the planets represented in the totems of the solar system in scale and the way scientists investigate the existence of life in these celestial bodies and in other stars.

At the end of the day, at 5:30 PM, one of the most successful attractions will occur: the “Program of Observation of the Sky”. To guide the visitors, the astronomers and mediators give a brief lecture called “Sky of the Month” to present to the public what can be observed. Soon after the lecture, everyone is invited to contemplate the sky through the century-old 21cm equatorial bezel and the modern 8-inch open-ended reflecting telescope.

On Sunday, in addition to the exhibitions, visitors will be able to enjoy the afternoon at the Digital Inflatable Planetarium. Inside the dome, images are projected that simulate the night sky and show the movements of the planets and the apparent displacement of the stars.

The sessions take place at 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM, and are conducted by the Museum’s mediators who teach about the phases of the moon, the constellations, the cycle of days and nights, the visible planets, and the differences that occur over time.
