Vaccination certificate no longer required to enter Paraguay

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On April 19, Paraguay announced that the vaccination certificate would no longer be a mandatory requirement for travelers entering the country. They will be able to present a negative covid-19 test taken within 48 hours before the trip.

It was confirmed by the general director of Migrations, Ángeles Arriola, who told Radio Monumental 1080 AM that this condition was “made more flexible”.

According to the head of Migrations, the vaccination proof “is within the requirements,” but it is no longer mandatory.

“Those who do not have the vaccine or have incomplete doses, bringing a PCR test made within 48 hours, could enter the country,” he said.

He explained that the decision aligns with “what is happening worldwide”.

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare published an update of the sanitary requirements for entering the country, according to which travelers over 12 years of age without proof of vaccination must present a covid test with a negative result.

The document was released a day after the Executive repealed the declaration of health emergency due to the pandemic, in force since March 2020, which put an end to the mandatory use of face masks in open spaces.

The new measures are known when the number of infections and deaths due to covid-19 remains low in the country.

On April 18, the Ministry of Health reported that the country recorded five deaths and 236 infections between April 3 and 9, the period corresponding to epidemiological week 14.

The report put the accumulated number of infections in the country at 648,682 and 18,786 deaths so far due to the pandemic.
