Trump promises to release all Kennedy assassination files if re-elected president

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump vowed this week to release all files related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy after his nephew, also running for president for the Democratic Party, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said he believes US intelligence officials may have been involved in his death in 1963.

“I’ve already published a lot, as you know. But if I’m reelected, I’ll release everything else,” Trump told The Messenger on Monday, referring to the hundreds of classified documents at the CIA’s request.

When Trump was president, he released thousands of documents on the Kennedy assassination, revealing that the CIA had the assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, on its radar, even having contacted him on multiple occasions.

Everything indicates that Oswald was an agent recruited from the intelligence agency to carry out the attack.

All the clues are there, but the document that confirms it without any doubt or room for interpretation is missing, and according to Trump himself, this could be in the papers that are kept classified.

In 1992, a law stipulated that all documents related to JFK be made public.

However, several presidential administrations, including the Trump and Biden administrations, have suspended the release of these most sensitive documents “at the express request of the CIA.”

In a statement when he was president, Trump asserted that he could not release all of the records because “certain information must continue to be redacted due to identifiable national security, law enforcement, and foreign affairs concerns.”

“I agree with the archivist’s recommendation that continued withholdings are necessary to protect against identifiable harm to national security, law enforcement, or foreign affairs that are of such gravity as to outweigh the public interest in immediate disclosure,” Trump’s office said in 2018.

However, it clarified, “I am also directing the agencies to revisit each redaction over the next three years.”

“At any time during that review period, and no later than the end, the agencies will disclose information that no longer warrants continued withholding.”

But when that period expired in 2021, President Joe Biden ordered by executive order not to release everything, and there are still some 4,300 records that remain under state secrecy, with some remaining redacted or even deleted.

While these records have never been seen, one has an idea of what they are about.

They mainly concern the work of George Joannides, a CIA agent in the 1960s and head of JMWAVE, the code name for a major secret intelligence-gathering and covert operations station in the United States operated by the CIA from 1961 to 1968, where the assassination attempt on President Kennedy is believed to have been planned.

At that time, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, CIA officials, and other intelligence and security agencies allegedly planned the assassination of the president to remove the Kennedys from the political scene, especially after the president boycotted a covert operation to invade Cuba, which failed in the Bay of Pigs.

Johnson immediately assumed the presidency and was then reelected in 1964, installing a political dynasty in the Democratic Party that pulled the strings of the group until the irruption of Bill Clinton only in 1992.

Therefore, this theory would also explain the Democratic internal affairs after his death.

When interviewed by The Messenger, Trump was asked if there should be anything for the public to be concerned about in JFK’s records.

“Well, I don’t want to comment on that,” responded Trump, who has had access to these documents during his presidency and would know the truth.

“But I will tell you that I have released a lot. I will release the remaining portion very early in my term,” he concluded.
