Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Hailing from London, Hot Chip appeared on the scene with the release of their 2000 debut, Mexico. The EP was issued by Victory Garden Records, a label owned and operated by members of London’s resident lo-fi psychedelic rock institution Southall Riot. A hypnotic wash of subtle — nearly subliminal techno beats, acoustic guitars, and funky pianos riffs, but the vocals truly stood out as original and unique.
Now after touring the world and releasing a successful string of album after album, Hot Chip returns to Rio after a six year hiatus from Brazil. The gang will arrive at Circo Voador to a mostly likely sold out house.

Grammy-nominated band Hot Chip arrives at Circo Voador tonight, after having played at festivals in Glastonbury, Sónar Spain, Big Day Out in Australia and Lollapalooza in Chicago. The British electronic music band was formed in 2000 and has made a serious name for themselves in the music business.
