Blue Note SP — UNESCO International Jazz Day
Paulista · Jazz · Brazilian Elite · Eventim
The Blue Note SP’s celebration of the UNESCO International Jazz Day brings together what the venue describes as “an unprecedented meeting of Brazil’s jazz elite.” Three names anchor the announced lineup: André Mehmari — pianist and composer, one of Brazil’s most acclaimed contemporary instrumental musicians, with a discography that traverses jazz, MPB, classical and choro; Arismar do Espírito Santo — the legendary multi-instrumentalist (bass, guitar, piano, percussion), arranger and composer who has collaborated with virtually every major Brazilian jazz figure across five decades; and Ricardo Herz — violinist, central to the contemporary Brazilian jazz violin tradition. Together they bring “a diverse range of styles and generations on one stage” in the heart of Avenida Paulista. The format favours improvisation and technical exchange. UNESCO designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in November 2011 to recognise the genre’s diplomatic role uniting cultures. Single show at 8 pm, doors at 7 pm.
