Rio’s Carnival: popular tickets sell out in less than 2 hours 

The 13,000 popular tickets for the bleachers of Sectors 12 and 13 of Marquês de Sapucaí sold out in less than two hours.

The pre-sale began at 9 am yesterday (8).

According to those responsible, the demand set a record for the parades of the samba schools of the Special Group, considered the elite of Rio’s Carnival.

The value of the tickets was R$15 (US$2.87), without charging fees.

Those who booked the ticket online should pay in cash next Saturday (11) at the stand of the Central Sales of the Independent League of Samba Schools (Liesa) in Sector 11 of the Sambadrome.

The entrance is through Avenida Salvador de Sá. Attendance will be from 10 am to 4 pm.

Those who do not make the payment will have their reservation canceled.

If there are tickets left for non-payment, they will be put on sale on another date, not yet defined.

According to Liesa, with the reservations of popular sectors, all tickets are already sold out (special and popular bleachers, individual chairs, and friezes).

Box seat tickets can still be purchased directly with the responsible for each VIP area.

The demand for tickets for Carnival 2023 has excited Liesa president Jorge Perlingeiro.

“We anticipate that the Sambadrome will hit a record audience in Rio Carnival 2023, expecting 100,000 revelers per night, including ticket buyers, sambistas, and the most diverse service providers,” he said.

For Liesa’s Marketing Director, Gabriel David, the record ticket sales for the bleachers, front rows, and boxes are an important source of revenue for the schools.

“It is the highest number reached in the history of Carnival. This is money transferred directly from the League to the samba schools. We can see that the main revenue that the schools have during the year has increased even more for the 2023 carnival,” he told Agência Brasil.

David recalled that the guarantee of revenue for the schools favors the improvement of the parades.

“It is very important that the schools can increasingly present a beautiful spectacle, which the public wants to see. This is what the city, the state of Rio de Janeiro, and the country want to show to the world and everyone a little bit of our culture and our art. Without debt, this expressive increase in ticket sales for Carnival is fundamental.”

GOLD SERIES

The demand extended to the Gold Series parades, once called the A Series and the Access Group.

According to Central Liesa, also responsible for selling tickets for the schools in this group at the Sambadrome, all tickets for the presentations that will take place on the 17 and 18 have already been sold.
