Rio de Janeiro government extends restrictive measures until April 26th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The state government of Rio de Janeiro has extended the restrictive measures for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic in the state until April 26th. According to the decree published today, April 20th, in the State Gazette, concert halls, nightclubs, parties and events of any kind are still prohibited.

Bars, restaurants and snack bars are allowed to operate only with seated customers and with a limit of 40% capacity, as well as shopping malls, gyms and movie theaters. Individual outdoor sports activities such as cycling and walking are allowed, as well as staying on the beach.

In municipalities that have established more restrictive measures than those of the state government, the strictest rules apply.

The Rio de Janeiro city hall extended the restrictive measures to fight the pandemic until April 27th. Sunbathing on the beach is still forbidden. Street vendors are forbidden to work on the sand and parking is not allowed on the shore. Bars and restaurants are allowed to operate until 9 PM.
