Peruvian mining exports totaled US$25.919 billion dollars between January and August 2022, which meant an expansion of 0.8 percent over the same period of the previous year, informed the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) on Thursday.

As published by the portfolio in its latest edition of the Mining Statistical Bulletin (BEM), as of the eighth month, the mining subsector contributed 59.1 percent of the Andean country’s total exports, where 57.6 percent corresponds to metallic products and the remaining 1.5 percent to non-metallic mining.

In this sense, he detailed that the main exported products were copper, gold, zinc, and iron, representing 88.4 percent of the total value of mining exports.

Regarding copper, he highlighted that it was the product that recorded the highest increase in shipments during the first eight months, with an accumulated value of US$13.08 billion, i.e., 1.1 percent higher than that recorded in the same period of 2021.

Thus, copper remains the main product exported by the Andean nation, with a share of 29.8 percent of total Peruvian exports.

Gold exports amounted to 6,787 million dollars, reflecting an increase of 5.2 percent over the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, zinc shipments accumulated 1,845 million dollars between January and August, 7.7 percent higher than in 2021.
