Paraguay will present its special attractions in religious and nature tourism at the ITB 2023 International Tourism Fair in Berlin.

The challenge is consolidating multidestination offers, including Paraguay and other neighboring countries.

ITB 2023 is considered the largest and most important meeting place for the global tourism industry and will be held this year for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The fair this year is exclusively for professionals, and that means that everyone who goes through the fairgrounds is very interested in the region,” Sofía Montiel, minister of the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), told “Radio Nacional del Paraguay” from Berlin.

She reported that the Latin American Pavilion, where Paraguay is located, received many tour operators, travel agencies, and media on Thursday (8).

“We also had a meeting with the Italian Minister of Tourism, who is very interested in strengthening relations and cooperation with our country, and today we had a working breakfast where we presented our country’s tourism offer to more than 35 tour operators, travel agencies and the German press,” she stressed.

The minister pointed out that the Paraguayan offer is based on nature, ancestral culture, and authenticity and that within the framework of the fair, an area was set up to present Paraguayan gastronomy with live preparations and tastings, which attracted great interest.

“The Paraguayan tourism offer has evolved in terms of supply and services, which has attracted the interest of tour operators and travel agencies that already market products and offers from neighboring countries,” she said.

In this sense, she acknowledged that the great challenge is to promote multidestination offers, that is, tourism offers shared with other countries.

She pointed out that one such offer is the “Camino de los Jesuitas,” a multidestination route that includes five countries (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay) and is already being promoted in Europe.

The Minister affirmed that European tourists are interested in Paraguay’s nature tourism, “this lush, exotic, preserved nature, as well as religious tourism.”
