Norma Piña: a progressive in the presidency of the Mexican Supreme Court

After the Justice closest to the socialist regime of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) -Yasmín Esquivel- could not be crowned as the new president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), because she was involved in a great scandal in which was pointed out for allegedly having plagiarized a thesis to qualify as a lawyer, another woman was chosen, Norma Piña, apparently not very loved by the socialists in power, but with a totally progressive agenda, which does not bode well for the defense of the traditional values of the West, read, for the right-wing.

Piña has previously voted in favor of the decriminalization of abortion, for an agenda of privileges for LGBT supremacism, for the free “recreational” consumption of marijuana, and considers herself a “feminist”, characteristics that mark her as part of the wave of progressivism, the same as her predecessor Arturo Zaldívar, who did so much damage to Mexico by subscribing to that fashionable ideology and being a “progressive” activist at full gallop, above defending justice and true human rights, beginning for the right to life from conception, which he denied.

Zaldívar ended his term in December 2022 and always put above all else the argument of the “free development of personality,”,a much-sung maxim of the most selfish and individualistic progressivism that seems to justify everything. Norma Piña will be no different.

Just to give an example, in her first speech as president of the SCJN, she said she was committed to working to achieve a “more egalitarian” society, and “without gender violence” which, if analyzed carefully, is a statement of her progressive principles, because no equality can be built in a forced way, except of course, in socialism, where the “redistribution” of wealth implies taking from some to give to others.

And as for her other wish, we should look for a society without violence, simply, without mentioning the preference for one of the 2 genders, in the most dangerous country to practice journalism in the world, and with 130,000 homicides so far of AMLO’s six-year term.

For their part, socialist politicians, supremacists of radical feminism, as well as equally left-wing, progressive media (such as El País), celebrate in their notes that a woman has reached the presidency of the SCJN for the first time, as if having uterus instead of a prostate was something that would make a difference and very valuable when it came to voting on draft resolutions in favor of the common good.

Another who applauded the arrival of a woman in that position was AMLO, but immediately reproached Piña for having voted against his initiatives. But that does not seem to be completely true, because Piña would have voted at her time in favor of the militarization of public security, an issue promoted by this soft Mexican socialism that follows the Chavista script to impose a dictatorship with a supposedly democratic face.

Piña reaches the highest position of the Judiciary to replace the outgoing Minister President Arturo Zaldívar, who was in charge of the SCJN from January 2, 2019 to December 31, 2022. The new president, who is a lawyer and has a doctorate in law from UNAM, will remain in that position until December 31, 2026 (the centenary year of the Cristero War).

Among other of her controversial participations, the then Justice Norma Piña, in a debate in June 2021, agreed that there is a “right” of women and “pregnant persons” to rent their wombs, and although they prohibited the sale of babies, it was accepted to be able to obtain economic benefits for the “rent.”

Piña’s “feminism” is very explicit, and she emphasizes the goal of achieving power, rather than achieving “equality”. In her first speech on Monday, January 2, 2023, she mentions that she will fight to corner the “patriarchy”, and that with her arrival at the presidency of the Court that “glass ceiling” has been broken, an already very hackneyed term that is useful for progressivism so that it is only women who obtain the best public positions, even regardless of their track record, experience or ability, better starting from a criterion based on the support of women who will work for women.

This is what the now Justice President Piña said: “I recognize the extremely important determination of the majority of this plenary court to break what seemed like an inaccessible glass ceiling.”

And she continued: “I feel accompanied, supported, agreed by all of them, by all of us… I feel very strong, because I know that we are all here, we placed ourselves for the first time in the center of the horseshoe of this full court, demonstrating, and demonstrating to ourselves, yes we can. I thank those who have always believed, those who have not tired of seeking changes that little by little corner our patriarchal culture. I honor, at this moment, those who are no longer here. We will work, we will strive, every day, for a fairer, more egalitarian society, without violence against women.”
