Leme Beach and 4 Anos de Funk: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The ‘4 Anos de Funk’ party will take place this Saturday on Leme Beach starting at 4PM, after being postponed from April due to torrential rains. The party is to commemorate the four year anniversary of the Botafogo Social Club (BSC), a collective of Rio-based expatriate DJs.

Expatriate Rio DJs Mike Frugaletti, Tee Cardaci (from San Francisco), Doug Gray, and Jan Roldanus (from London), will showcase an eclectic mix of music from 4PM until the cops come (expected to run until 11PM).

The party was originally planned to be at Alto Vidigal, but problems associated with ongoing construction came to light at the last minute.

Rather than cancel or postpone the party there, Tee Cardaci explained: “We came up with a plan. It was decided to move the party to a quiosque in Leme and begin during the day. […] It was important that the event happened to celebrate the anniversary and for all our fans that had been anticipating it.”

The BSC have been throwing parties for four years, with the mission to revive old school funk, soul and Brazilian music. Conceived in Botafogo, the BSC has put on events all over the city, including Lapa, Ipanema, Leblon, and now they are bringing their sounds to the sands of Leme, around Posto 1 (Post 1).

“Since 2009, the Botafogo Social Club has been doing its part to help the city shake things up with a mixture of funk, hip hop, disco, house music, plus good people and good blood. […] We want you by our side! Come feel the music, shake things up, and enjoy our ride for the ears and feet (and booties, elbows and knees…),” BCS says on their Facebook event page.
