The region recorded 402,351 deaths and over 11.3 million coronavirus cases on Monday, November 2nd. The first 200,000 coronavirus deaths in Latin America had been recorded on August 2nd.

This means that in only three months the number of victims in the region doubled. Although the number is daunting, daily deaths in Latin America stand at 1,600, according to the seven-day rolling average – or just over half of the 3,100 daily deaths recorded in July, at the peak of the pandemic, according to Reuters’ count based on official government data.

The countries with the highest death rates by Covid-19 in Latin America are, in decreasing order: Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Argentina.

Brazil passed the 160,000 death mark by coronavirus on Sunday, according to a survey released at 8 PM by the media outlet consortium.
