How was the Argentine dictatorship?

The Argentine dictatorship marked a true milestone in the lives of all Argentines. Every March 24 marks the National Day of Remembrance for truth and justice.

It was that day in 1976 when the de facto government began, whose actions would have consequences to this day.

Disappeared, exiled, expropriated children, and war are some of the characteristics of Argentina in the hands of the National Board of the Armed Forces.

From the seizure of power in 1976, the fight against all subversive thought began, according to some time criteria.

With these words, they justified the disappearance of approximately 30 thousand citizens.

Among them are people who belonged to trade union groups, high school, and university students, political activists, cultural leaders, and ordinary civilians. The mere fact of appearing on a list was a synonym for death.

Those who were wanted for thinking and opining differently were kidnapped, tortured, and then nobody heard from them again.

Over time, mass graves and testimonies were discovered that spoke of the death flights. The corpses were thrown from the air into the sea.

EXPROPRIATION OF CHILDREN

The mothers or couples who were with children at the time of being kidnapped by the forces were separated.

The same fate has befallen the young pregnant women who gave birth and whose babies were stolen.

These minors were handed over to the military or relatives for their illegal adoption. Years later the grandmothers of Plaza Mayo would start searching for their grandchildren, and many have been found in recent years.

CENSORED AND EXILED

One of the first measures published was the prison sentence for any person who spreads, digresses, or publishes subversive or terrorist communications.

The problem was in the meaning that it gave to the subversion concept: it was everything that was opposed to the government.

Many cultural figures had to go into exile to avoid suffering the fate of the thousands of disappeared. Musicians, writers, and journalists who dared to give their divergent opinion were persecuted.

THE FALKLANDS WAR

In the last period of the dictatorship, the Malvinas War began.

Defenseless young people were sent, in a high percentage without military preparation and without the necessary resources, to a lost war.

This ended a government that could no longer be sustained, and they returned to power.

The military dictatorship in Argentina was an abusive de facto government that violated all the rights of citizens.
