Brazil’s Carlos Bolsonaro to marry 25-year-old from Rio Grande do Sul

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Bolsonaro family is expected to grow early next year. A survey by journalists from Rio Grande do Sul suggests that Rio de Janeiro city councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ) is scheduled to marry a resident of Bagé in March 2022, a city in the south of the state.

When they started dating in 2018, Bagé websites and newspapers reported that a local young woman was in a relationship with the President’s son, who visited the city and her family’s estate quite often.

However, Carlos never appeared in public with his fiancée, 25-year-old Georgia Paiva Azambuja. According to columnist Rosane de Oliveira, from Zero Hora newspaper, the relationship was kept secret to protect the girl from media harassment. Rosane confirmed with the bride’s godmother that the wedding is indeed scheduled.

The “scoop” came from the Rio Grande do Sul website Deu o Chic, which on Sunday, September 12, published a photo of the bride’s mother, Inaiara Paiva, alongside President Jair Bolsonaro.

Georgia comes from a traditional family of politicians from the far south of Brazil. Her grandfather, Carlos Azambuja, was appointed mayor of Bagé during the military regime between 1979 and 1985. He was later a federal deputy – and the only member of the Rio Grande do Sul legislature to vote against the impeachment of ex-president Fernando Collor, in 1992.

The family is a supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro, and Georgia has shown to be a Bolsonarist militant on social networks. However, since the news leaked, she has deleted some profiles, such as Twitter, and closed others.
