After negotiating for months, federal congressmen Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) and Luciano Bivar (União-PE), presidents of PP and União Brasil parties, are close to closing a deal for the two acronyms to integrate a federation.

According to PP sources heard by Revista Oeste, “very little” is left to conclude the agreement between the parties.

The merger should be confirmed in March, a little after Carnaval.

The agreement will allow the parties to keep their initial structures but to unite in a consortium that obliges them to have the same position in the National Congress.

If it comes to fruition, the party federation will represent the largest bench of the House of Representatives, with 108 members, and the second largest in the Senate, with 15 members in the House.

With this move, the federation will have more bargaining power for space on the Ministries Esplanade.

União Brasil already commands three portfolios: Communication, Tourism, and National Integration.

But the party also intends to command autarchies such as Codevasf and Sudene.

The merger will also facilitate Nogueira’s rapprochement with the Lula government.

The parliamentarian participated in the campaign of former president Jair Bolsonaro in the dispute for the presidency of the Republic in 2022.
