Municipal and State School Systems Suspend Classes in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Rio's City Hall and the state government have decided to suspend classes in schools as of next Monday, March 16th.

The suspension of schools in the city of Rio will be in place for at least a week - it could be extended to the end of March. These facilities will, however, remain open for the children's lunch during this period. The cafeterias will serve students from 11 AM to 1 PM.

The state government has chosen to suspend the school year for 15 days.
