Uruguay took advantage of meat embargo in Argentina: exports rose by more than 50% in 2021

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Meat exports in Uruguay had their dream year, taking advantage of the vacancy left by Argentina due to the clamp imposed by the government since May 20.

According to figures from the National Meat Institute, up to December, it had exported 404,000 tons of product weight, 53% more than in the same period of 2020. At the same time, they generated US$2.3 billion, 50.5% more than that period.

China represented the primary market for Uruguay, as is the case in Argentina, where shipments to that destination increased by 54%, reaching 300,000 . . .
