“Our country is a fertile land for good ideas and a land of opportunities,” he said in a presentation to investors in London at a meeting called Chile Day.

Telematically, Piñera highlighted the strength of Chile’s democratic institutions, the recognized plan to combat pandemics and vaccination, the boom in non-conventional renewable energies and green hydrogen, and initiatives against climate change, such as the commitment to carbon neutrality.

Yesterday, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) raised its forecast for Chile’s economic growth to 12% in 2021 from a previous forecast of 6.7% projected at mid-year.

In its “Economic Outlook” report, the international organization also predicted that its economic growth will slow down to 2% in 2023.

The OECD explained that this year’s economic growth will be driven by buoyant private consumption thanks to the fiscal stimulus injected to face the pandemic crisis, the three partial withdrawals of pension funds approved by Congress, and mobility restrictions’ relaxation

The organization valued that Chile implemented “one of the most successful vaccination programs against Covid-19 in the world” and that it considerably reduced the cases and deaths attributable to this disease, allowing an almost total reopening of the economy.
