Nicaragua: Ortega has canceled 3,323 NGOs since 2018

Daniel Ortega’s regime canceled the legal personality of 26 NGOs, on Wednesday, including the Association of Women with Cancer, precisely on the day International Women’s Day was celebrated.

At least 5 of the closures of these types of organizations occurred within the framework of their members’ own request for their closure.

With the cancellation of their legal personality, the Ortega regime has reached 3,323 outlawed NGOs since its repressive escalation began in April 2018.

Among the organizations that had their permanence affected are:

• the Association of Cardiologists of Nicaragua,
• the Association of Farmer to Farmer of the Municipality of Santa Rosa del Peñón,
• the Foundation Educating for Life,
• the Swiss Association of Nicaragua,
• the Association Center for Cleaner Production of Nicaragua,
• the Association for Nephropathic Children,
• the Association Pentecostal Ministry Power of God,
• and the Pentecostal Organization Rock of Salvation (of US origin).

Most of them were interrupted by the regime because they had not reported their financial statements during the last years, which would violate the Central American country’s law.
