Uber Announces New Option in Brazil: Travel Without Chatting
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Uber announced on Monday, October 7th that it will offer a new category in Brazil, starting in November.
Called Uber Comfort, it was launched in the United States in July and – at a higher price – will provide some amenities for users, such as the option of asking for a ride without chatting with the driver.
According to Uber, only certain models and car manufacturers will be accepted and these models will have minimum interior space requirements to enter the new Uber Comfort category. Drivers in this category must also have a minimum number of completed trips and a minimum score.
Besides the option not to chat during the ride, clients will also be able to order the desired air-conditioning temperature before the ride starts.
Some of these features, such as ordering a chat-free ride or temperature, may be performed through a window in the app.
“Many people have been through situations like this before. You get in the car tired and all you need at that moment is a little peace of mind,” said Claudia Woods, general director of Uber in Brazil.
Uber Select, a category that currently offers more spacious and comfortable cars, will be discontinued at the end of November, according to the company. The features are also valid for those who request a car in the Uber Black category.
