Omicron: Argentina, Bolivia, and Uruguay break Covid-19 case records

On Wednesday, January 5, the highest number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic was recorded in the three countries. Most of them are of the mild Omicron variant. Therefore, mortality rates remain stable.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Ministry of Health of Argentina registered on Wednesday 95,159 new cases of coronavirus, a record number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic. Uruguay also registered its highest number, reporting 5,330 new cases of covid-19 infection in 24 hours.

Argentina's health agency reported 52 deaths from the virus on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic to 117 . . .
