The volume went up under Lula’s first two terms in office.

It increased from US$38.8 billion at the end of 2002 to US$85.8 billion at the end of the president’s 1st term and to US$288.6 billion in December 2010, the last month of Lula’s 2nd term.

In the partial 2023, the foreign exchange reserves increased by US$21.3 billion, which represents an increase of 6.6%.
