Brazil: Federal Police resume issuing passports

The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) said this Monday, the 26th, that the issuance of passports was resumed and the distribution of documents that had been held back until December 24th began.

In a note, the corporation informed that the delivery of the booklets will be gradual. The service had been suspended due to lack of transfer of funds from the Ministry of Economy.

Also according to the PF, the delivery deadlines for new requests for documents will be normalized “as soon as the previous requests have been processed”.

The Federal Police instructed all people who requested passports to consult their requests and only go to the police station if the status “available for delivery” is included.

The consultation can be carried out online.

The corporation also mentioned the “joint efforts with the Mint” to resume the production of passports. The PF announcement came two days after the Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, announced on his social networks that the amount had been released.
