Brazil exports soccer players the most, ahead of France and Argentina
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil is the country that exports the most players to foreign leagues, ahead of France and Argentina, according to an annual study by the CIES Football Observatory.
A total of 1,219 Brazilian players play abroad, compared to 978 French and 815 Argentine players. England (525), Germany (441), Colombia (425), and Spain (409) follow them on this list.
While the number of Brazilians and Argentines abroad experienced a slight rise from 2017 with 4% and 6%, respectively, the French increased significantly by 27%.
The English rose by 25%, Germans by 31%, Colombians by 41%, and Spaniards by 14%. The increase of 86% of Venezuelans or 81% of Ecuadorians stands out.
The main destination for Brazilian expatriates is Portugal; for Argentines, Chile; for French expatriates, Luxembourg; for English expatriates, Scotland; German expatriates, Turkey; Colombians, Mexico; and Spaniards, England.
