Brazil created 159,500 formal jobs in October

Brazil created 159,500 formal jobs in October 2022. This is the 10th consecutive month that the country has a positive balance, according to Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed).

In all, 2.3 million jobs were opened from January to October. The data were released on Tuesday (Nov 29 2022) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

There was an 18% drop compared to the same period in 2021, when 2.8 million jobs were created.

Brazil now has 42.9 million people working formally in the public and private sectors. It represents an increase of 0.37% in relation to the stock of the previous month.

Minister José Carlos Oliveira (Labour) mentioned that 26 units of the Federation had a positive result in the month. The Southeast region, which has the largest population, had the best number.

Oliveira said that the economy is on the right track and thanked the businessmen who invest in the Brazilian market: “The ones who generates jobs are the entrepreneurs who believe in Brazil.”

TRANSITION

Undersecretary for Labor Studies and Statistics, Felipe Pateo, said that the Ministry of Labor and Employment team is in talks with the transitional government. “What I can say is that we had a very good meeting last week with the transition people, which is taking place in a republican way”, he said.

AVERAGE WAGE

According to the ministry, the average admission salary was R$1,932.93 in October, 0.38% less than that registered in September. There was a real drop of R$7.28.

SECTORS

The services sector had the best performance and helped boost the October result.

Here are the sectoral results:

  • services: 91,294 posts;
  • trade: 49,356 posts;
  • industry: 14,891 posts;
  • construction: 5,348 posts;
  • agriculture: -1,435 posts.

STATES

In all, 26 units of the Federation recorded positive balances in the month. The exception was Amapá.

The biggest balances were in:

  • São Paulo: 60,404 posts (0.46%);
  • Rio Grande do Sul: 13,853 jobs (0.52%);
  • Paraná: 10,525 posts (0.36%).

REGIONS

The 5 Brazilian regions also showed a positive balance:

  • Southeast: 80,740 posts (0.37%);
  • Northeast: 32,223 posts (0.46%);
  • South: 31,244 posts (0.39%);
  • Midwest: 8,409 posts (0.22%);
  • North: 7,266 posts (0.35%).
