Brazil Central Bank reports data leak of 2,100 Pix keys

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Central Bank reported yet another data leak involving Pix keys, now linked to Logbank Soluções de Pagamentos. There were 2,112 keys affected with the disclosure of user name, CPF (individual taxpayer number), affiliated institution, and account number.

This time, the Central Bank did not disclose the causes of the incident. In the previous incidents involving Banco do Estado de Sergipe (Banese), with 414,526 keys affected, and Acesso Soluções de Pagamento (160,147 keys), the agency said the leaks were caused by specific flaws in the institutions’ systems.

The agency also failed to disclose how affected users will be notified. The Central Bank merely said that the leaked data was not sensitive and said that the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has been advised and that those affected will be notified.

“Despite the low amount of data involved, the Central Bank always adopts the principle of transparency in this type of occurrence,” it said in a statement.
