With an experience of 13,000 flight hours, Traniela Carle Campolieto landed an Aerolíneas Argentinas flight at Miami International Airport on May 24.
According to her, it was a smooth flight. But there was something special about this flight between Buenos Aires and Miami. For the first time, an Argentine plane was piloted by a transwoman.
“I will never forget this day. Thank you to everyone who made it possible.”
“It fills me with great pride to be part of the fight for a society that is increasingly inclusive, diverse, and tolerant,” wrote the captain of the airline Aerolíneas Argentinas on her Facebook profile.
The pilot, the first transwoman to become a commander in Argentina, has worked in aviation for more than 24 years, 11 of them as commander of international flights.
She was a pilot in the Argentine army, where she reached the rank of first lieutenant.
But it was not until the flight to Miami on May 24 that Traniela Carle Campolieto practiced her profession as a transwoman for the first time.
“I am practicing the profession I love so much,” she wrote.
