Angola to host 43rd summit of SADC heads of state in August

Angola is set to host the 43rd summit of heads of state and government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from August 7 to 17.

During the summit, Angola will assume the organization’s rotating presidency, taking over from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Angola announced that the second meeting of the Interministerial Technical Commission was held to discuss and refine the specifications and implementation plan for the summit.

The aim is to ensure the success of the event, which will include two parallel activities—an industrial fair and a lecture.

The “Week of Industrialization” fair will be held in Luanda Bay on July 31, allowing each member state to showcase their industrial potential, exchange experiences, and establish partnerships.

Alongside the fair, a lecture is scheduled for August 12 at the “Venâncio de Moura” Diplomatic Academy, focusing on the policies and diplomacy of SADC member states.

SADC consists of 16 member states, namely Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The summit marks Angola’s one-year presidency, during which the country will play a crucial role in advancing the regional agenda of SADC.
