AEL and Brazilian Air Force successfully integrate E-LynX TM system aboard two F-5M Tiger II fighters

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and AEL Sistemas, the Brazilian subsidiary of Elbit Systems, the prime contractor of the Brazilian strategic Link-BR2 program, have completed a series of flight tests to integrate E-LynX TM Airborne Software Defined Radio on board two F-5M Tiger II aircraft.

The Brazilian Link-BR2 program aims to provide secure national data link capabilities, enable digital connectivity of all airborne platforms to each other, and establish multi-domain interoperability.

The next integration phase will be on board Gripen aircraft, while the Link-BR2 program roadmap includes integrating system capabilities onboard all FAB aircraft.

The E-LynX SDR family was designed with an open architecture approach, featuring unique waveforms and allowing the adoption of European and NATO waveforms. This solution was selected by the Israel Defense Forces and by several Armed Forces across Europe, including Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, and other NATO countries.

E-LynX radios are developed and manufactured at three Elbit Systems radio engineering centers worldwide: in Israel, in Germany by Elbit Systems Deutschland, and in Brazil by AEL.

Demonstrating simultaneous multi-channel transmission capability, Link-BR2 enabled air and ground forces to perform target interdiction, receive information from ground radars, and quickly close sensor and shooter loops as part of the multidimensional scenario. The Link BR2 strategic program will lead the Brazilian Armed Forces to operate in the NCW concept.

AEL SISTEMAS CELEBRATES ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Still, as Aeroeletronica, AEL Sistemas participated in important projects in the 1980s, such as the supply of electronic equipment for the T-27 Tucano turboprops and the A-1 AMX subsonic fighter, both for the Brazilian Air Force. In 2001, AEL Sistemas became part of the Elbit Systems Group.

The development of avionics for the F-5EM Tiger II fighter and the EMB-314 Super Tucano turboprop was responsible, in the 2000s, for the expansion of the portfolio of capabilities to serve the Brazilian Air Force customer with a high-tech national solution.

AEL Sistemas, a Brazilian company located in Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul State), is dedicated to designing, developing, manufacturing, maintaining, and logistic support of military and space electronic systems for applications in air, sea, and land platforms.
