“A Casa do Porco” in Brazil’s São Paulo is elected best restaurant in Latin America
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – After being elected as the 17th best restaurant in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in October, A Casa do Porco, run by chefs Jefferson and Janaína Rueda, received on Monday (29) another international award: the best restaurant in Brazil and Latin America, according to the French ranking La Liste 2022.
The selection of the best restaurants took place at an event in Paris. With a score of 93.00%, the establishment located in downtown São Paulo is still the best-placed Brazilian restaurant in the ranking that elects the best gastronomic addresses in the world.
A Casa do Porco, which features creative “caipira” country cuisine, is among the 200 best-placed houses in the list of a thousand restaurants, as well as being the Latin American restaurant with the highest score in La Liste.

In the previous edition, published in 2019, A Casa do Porco was awarded as the most creative restaurant globally.
“It is an honor to represent Brazilian caipira cuisine on this list alongside great fellow chefs from around the world. What I hope is that we can have more and more Brazilians ranked among the best to bring our gastronomy, our knowledge, and our culture to more and more people,” said Jefferson Rueda after the gala ceremony held in the presence of Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministère de L’Europe et des Affaires Etrangères (Ministry of European and International Affairs).
The announcement was followed by a dinner hosted by star chefs Mathieu Viannay, Clare Smyth, Guy Savoy, Dominique Crenn, and Arnaud Donckele.
RANKING LA LISTE
La Liste is one of the most prestigious rankings in world gastronomy. To elect the best restaurants in the world, the jury uses a compilation of more than 600 guidebooks and specialized publications, as well as millions of online reviews. With this information, La Liste establishes scores that generate a global ranking of a thousand restaurants handpicked by food critics in various corners of the world.
Evaluations from various specialized publications are gathered in a giant database, and each analysis score is converted into a standard score, ranging from 0 to 100. The local guides considered are also given a “trustworthiness index” from 0 (not trusted) to 10 (very trusted).
For each restaurant listed, the average score is calculated, weighted by the reliability index of each source. Finally, online customer reviews are integrated, with a weight of 10% in La Liste’s final result.
The restaurants are then ranked according to the score obtained. Due to the pandemic, the last edition of the list was announced in December 2019 (La Liste 2020), when A Casa do Porco achieved a score of 95% and received the Top 200 seal, the third house cited in this range. In the same year, the restaurant received the first Authenticity Award, an award offered to the most creative cuisine in the world by La Liste.
