54% of Brazilian survey respondents say that Senate Covid CPI was useless

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A survey conducted by the Quaest research company and Genial Investimentos shows that, for 54% of Brazilians, the Covid CPI was useless. Another 29% answered that it was useful. And 17% of people couldn’t answer.

The survey measured the perception of the population in relation to the investigation carried out by the Senate and asked whether the CPI was useful for anything. Besides the general number, the survey separated the answers by political preference.

Among those who support Jair Bolsonaro, only a quarter saw any use in the Covid CPI. Among those who disapprove of the president, 32% answered that the CPI was useful.

The movement is the opposite among those who said the CPI was useless. Among Bolsonaro’s supporters, 59% gave this answer. Among those who do not approve of his administration, 52% made this choice.

The highest percentage of people who saw the Covid’s CPI as useful is among those who would like to see former president Lula win the election next year. In this case, 33%, or one third, said the CPI was useful.

This number falls to 30% among those who say they want neither Lula nor Bolsonaro and 22% among Bolsonaro supporters.

Another stratification made was based on how the person gets their information. The highest percentage of those who saw the usefulness of the CPI is among those who get their news from radio (43%) and printed newspapers (42%). At the other end are those who do not usually inform themselves about politics (18%) and those whose news comes from WhatsApp (22%).

The survey interviewed 2,063 people between November 3rd and 6th. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points plus or minus.
