The American School of Rio Launches New Logo: Sponsored

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The American School of Rio de Janeiro (EARJ) launched an updated logo on March 30, 2016, to match their mission of providing a long tradition of high levels of English language instruction, educational innovation and commitment to academic excellence. The new logo is the result of over a year of work, and the administration is excited to unveil the new visual identity.

Head of School Andrew Sherman, who joined EARJ in 2014, explains, “We worked with alumni, faculty, school board, staff, and administration for a year to gather data and engaging in dynamics to define the three pillars of our community: cultural pluralism, sparks creativity and reaches excellence. We are glad that we can represent who we are and celebrate the unique aspects of EARJ.”

The intention is for the revised visual identity to reinforce the strength of the school’s tradition using the blue and red to represent our history as U.S. accredited institution founded by the American Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Diplomatic Mission and the green to reflect the unique and privileged location of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Also, the school explains that the graphic system of interchangeable shapes, colors and solid-lined parts is a recognition that EARJ is composed of a number of nationalities, and cultural pluralism is a core element that makes the school a special place to study and work.

With the launch of the new logo, the school said, “The EARJ community is defined by our respect and celebration of the multicultural composition of the student body. Our school is literally a portal to the world providing a global education for our students. EARJ also represents a place where people can explore and pursue their talents and to be inspired to define their own unique path to personal fulfillment.”

Sherman adds, “EARJ is also about the arts and innovation, providing students with opportunities to create, sing, prototype, design, act and play an instrument. We firmly believe in sparking creativity through hands-on experiences and by encouraging students and staff to assume new challenges and take risks.”

EARJ was established in 1937 by private individuals, corporations, and the American Chamber of Commerce. After launching the school in Ipanema and developing a campus in Leblon, EARJ, since 1971, is located on a 12-acre campus in the neighborhood of Gávea at the edge of Tijuca National Forest on a steep hill overlooking Rio.

Launched in 2014, the Barra Campus offers preschool through 7th grade classes and a new grade will be added every year until reaching a full pre-school to 12th grade program.
