Study shows the most deleted types of apps in Brazil and worldwide
Cell phone memory. Undoubtedly, this is one of the new economy’s most precious assets.
Therefore, convincing a person to download an application is a great victory for any company.
However, a big challenge is staying on the smartphone through relevance and usefulness.

An unprecedented survey by AppsFlyer, which maps the uninstallation rate of apps in Brazil and worldwide, shows that user tolerance for apps that do not meet their expectations is extremely low, especially with numerous alternatives available for almost every app.
Despite the improvement in uninstall rates in 2022 (only an 8% increase over the previous year), which is a positive trend in itself, uninstalls continue to represent a significant problem for apps.
According to the study, gaming apps suffer the highest uninstallation rates, followed by social and educational apps.
Following the most uninstalled categories are education, utilities, entertainment, and finance.
Almost 1 in 2 game apps are uninstalled within 30 days due to the exploratory nature of games, in which users constantly try out new apps.
The game is usually uninstalled quickly if it does not generate a first impression.
Overall, the uninstall rate among emerging countries was 26% (Indonesia) to 43% (Argentina), higher than the average uninstall rate of 36% in developed countries (US, UK, Japan, Korea, France, and Germany).
Worldwide, the average difference was 28%.
The study concludes that “uninstalls are a major ecosystem challenge.”
Applications must therefore measure their uninstall rates, understand exactly when, why, and from which channels the uninstalling users came, and how to minimize this problem.
“Setting up uninstall attribution is simple and quick, so it’s definitely worth it.”
Another point of attention from the survey is that “since the uninstallation rate is highest on the first day of use, it is absolutely critical that the first contact with the app is really relevant to the user.”
And finally, “promising too much in an attempt to get a download is a strategy that can generate a negative effect, leading to frustration and damaging your brand irreparably.”
The most uninstalled app categories are:
- Games
- Social Networking
- Education
- Utilities
- Entertainment
- Finance
- Lifestyle
- Shopping
- Food & Drink
- Travel
